Made entirely from paint my students threw away — dried skins peeled off abandoned palettes, pounds of color hardened and discarded before it ever reached a canvas. Nothing new was bought for this work.

The waste is thrown outward from a center that will not hold. Thousands of fragments — cadmium, violet, cobalt, bone white — spin across the panel in a debris field, while heavier sheets of blue and scarlet fold and buckle where the pressure is greatest. Open water shows through at the lower right, the only part of the surface the storm has not yet reached.

From the Consumed series. We take more than we need and call the remainder someone else's problem.
