The Three Graces
Three performers in Dallas Cowboys uniforms worked an opening as the party itself, dancing, mingling, and handing out McDonald’s apple pies. In Greek myth the Three Graces — Aglaia, Euphrosyne, and Thalia — attend Venus and personify charis: grace, favor, the gift given freely. Painters from Botticelli to Canova posed them nude and linked, two facing out and one turned away. America already has this figure. She wears a corporate logo, smiles on command, and is paid to lift the mood of a crowd she is not part of.
